Forms & Weapons
Judges are looking for Stances, Focus, Balance, Speed, Intensity, Presentation, Proper Technique. Judges should not penalize competitors for doing a modified form. Forms should not have more then 3 gymnastic techniques
Traditional & Open Divisions - Competitors in these divisions must exhibit a form or weapons routine that reflects the essence and value of the division name in which they are competing. Otherwise the competitor risks downgrading or DQ
A underbelt may start their form over again but will be given the low score 8.00
A black Belt will not be allowed to restart there form. they are DQ automatical.
In weapons divisions the competitor should be judged on the use of the weapon along with the above criteria.
If a competitor drops his weapon (Under Belts - lowest score 8.00) (Black Belt DQ)
The scoring range for under belts is 8.00 - 9.00 For Black Belts 9.00 - 10.00
Under Belt Sparring
Safety equipment required - Hand pads - Foot Pads - Head Gear - Mouth Piece - Cup & Supporter
1 point for each technique
2 Points for a kick to the head.
First to 5 points wins or the most points in two minutes.
In case of a tie the first to score wins.
No groin or face contact.
One foot out of the ring you are out of bounce.
Sweeps are allowed to the front leg only.
No Ground Fighting.
Penalty points are awarded for rules violations. excessive contact, running out of bounce, falling to avoid contact, contact to an illegal area are some examples.
When calling points, only one call should be made. If there was a point scored - call point. If there was contact call contact.
There are no warnings given to competitors. If there is a rules violation it is an automatic point.
There are 4 calls an official can make -Point - Contact - Clash or No See - DQ
- Point - Official will point towards the person who scored and hold up one or two fingers.
- Contact - The officials will slap their fist.
- Clash/No See - The official will hold his hands together down in front of him.
- DQ - Official will circle their hand up in the air.
CONTINUOUS SPARRING
- Three - 30 second rounds
- Each round is scored on the 10 point must system.
- Each round is scored on effective striking (Punches & Kicks) and ring generalship
- No clinching or grabbing opponent.
- No excessive contact (points will be deducted)
BLACK BELT SPARRING
Same rules as above with these additions
Most points in two minutes.
Light face contact is allowed
AGE & RANK RULES
Students will compete in the same division all year. Kids should compete at the age & rank they are January 1st
Competitors may compete up one age bracket if they wish but if they compete up they must stay there the who year, no moving back and forth between divisions.
RULES OF CONDUCT
Swearing of foul langauge will not be tolerated from anyone.
Unsportsman like conduct is not tolerated.
Parents and couches will refrain from using degrading comments about other competitors.
MSKC RULES ARBITRATOR
The Arbitrator for the MSKC is Mr. Jeff Bryant. If there is a problem in the ring a couch or parent may call the arbitrator over to the ring to clarify the rules and make a judgement on the problem.
